On test day you'll do both, in this order. For practice, work on whichever feels harder — you'll improve faster on your weak spot than on the one you're already comfortable with.
Task 1
Describe a chart.
Summarise data from a graph, table or diagram in your own words. Tests your ability to identify trends, make comparisons and report numbers accurately.

Argue a position.
Develop and defend a viewpoint on a contested topic. Tests your ability to construct an argument, support it with reasons and write at length.
